Stata is a powerful and popular statistical software, widely used by research communities. It enables users to manage, analyze and produce graphical visualization of the data. This training program covers various topics in Statistics such as:

  • Introduction: Stata windows and editors, Stata files.
  • Data Management: Variables and its types, Creating new data sets, Importing data, Combining data files, Generating & replacing variables etc.
  • Descriptive Statistics: Frequency distribution, Measures of central tendency and dispersion, Contingency tables etc.
  • Statistical Graphs: Creating and describing statistical graphs such as Bar chart, Pie chart, Histogram, Box plot etc.
  • Statistical Tests: Z-test, t-test, Chi-square test, ANOVA F-test and Nonparametric tests.
  • Correlation and Regression: Simple and Partial correlations, Simple and multiple linear regressions, Logistic regression.
  • Data Reduction: Principal component and Factor analysis.
  • Survival Analysis: Kaplan-Meier survival functions and Cox proportional hazard model.
  • Time Series: Time series plots, ACF, PACF, AR, MA, ARMA and ARIMA etc.
  • Handling Survey Data: Declare survey data, declare weights, Survey-weighted tables and graphs.

Participants

  • Participants are expected to be professionals and/or students from any discipline studying at least at undergraduate levels.
  • Participants should have knowledge of computer fundamentals.

Note that only forty (40) students are admitted to this program according to first come first serve basis. Participants must attend a minimum of 80% classes to obtain a certificate.

 Program Schedule

  • The Stata training program is usually run quarterly:
    • February – March
    • April – May
    • August – September
    • December – January
  • Duration of the program: 5 weeks
  • Number of classes: 20 classes
  • Class time: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Friday and Saturday) including refreshment and prayer break

 Venue: Computer Lab (Room # 436), Department of Statistics, University of Dhaka, Dhaka-1000, Bangladesh.

Registration Fees: Tk. 12,000/= (Professionals and others), Tk. 10,000/= (Undergraduate Students)
